MTC to
Host Annual Publications and Online Competitions
Have you or your company produced technical communication
products that you think are worthy of awards? Would you like your
work to be recognized by your peers? This call for entries is
your invitation to participate in the annual Society for Technical
Communication (STC) competitions.
The STC competition is open to everyone who produces technical
communication. Entrants do not have to be members of STC. You
may enter work as an individual or on behalf of a colleague or
subordinate. The Middle Tennessee Chapter is once again sponsoring
competitions in the Technical Publications and Online Communication
categories.
You can submit one or multiple entries, and you can submit work
as part of a team. Look for complete details at http://www.stcmidtenn.org/competitions/2010-entries.htm

Calling All Judges
You can be a judge in the 2010 STC online and technical
publications competitions! Anyone with experience in the technical
communication field, a publishing background, teaching experience,
certifications by a professional organization, or related technical
communication experience can be a judge.
Judges do not have to be STC members or chapter members. Judges
evaluate entries at any time prior to the consensus judging meeting.
Each team of judges meets (in person or virtually) to share their
comments on the entries assigned to their team. Consensus judging
does not require travel.
To volunteer, send an email to MidTNCompetitions@gmail.com.
Deadline to volunteer is October 20. Judging is a great way to
be exposed to a variety of ideas, styles, and techniques across
our industry.

Struts its Feathers in Nashville
If you’ve ever been to a Practical Conference on Communication,
or PCOC, you know that it is a fabulous conference that delivers
a big bang for the buck. This year’s PCOC is being held

communication career, is set for October 7-9, 2010.
Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a veteran
